Star Trek DS9 TV mini-series campaign takes on a new focus!

It’s been a while since I’ve done an update and here’s what’s happened since the last one:

bullet

The old sites: http://www.starfleetlibrary.com/ds9petition and http://www.ds9movie.trekster.us   are no longer valid.

bullet

The online petition is no longer valid.

bullet

I’ve got new partners and we’ve changed the campaign focus to a TV mini-series instead of a big screen movie. With the success of “Battlestar Galactica”, "Farscape" and other mini-series, we see this we see this campaign as a viable way to focus overwhelming fan support and bring DS9 back to television.

bullet

These partners are: Doug Ballinger and Jay Lehmann. Jay has given us a powerful new website: http://www.ds9tvminiseries.net/ and is the new webmaster for the campaign site. Doug is the brains behind the new focus we call: Operation: Paramount.

bullet

The way this will work is that each US state (counting also the District of Columbia) will have a campaign coordinator that will in effect collect paper petitions from fans. This will be done by the coordinator and his/her assistants by attending Star Trek conventions in their respective States and collecting signed petitions and perhaps also contact stars we haven’t reached yet.

bullet

While each State's individual petition goal is different, the campaign's initial goal is to collect 1, 000, 000 or more signed petitions over the next two years. The more petitions we get, the better of course. This number may seem impossible but with each State weighing in, it’s not as impossible as it seems. Visit our site and click on the red button on the home page: Operation: Paramount for more details. We’ve already recruited some coordinators for the States of California, Illinois, Iowa (our own Jay Lehmann), Nevada, and Utah. These States don’t have assistant coordinators however. Review the campaign presentation which give a birds-eye view of how the campaign is organized. We're looking for a Director of Operations and a Director of Logistics to round out our headquarters team so if you are a fan of DS9 and want to join the campaign to bring DS9 back to television, this is the place to go. You can help in many ways as you will find on our home page and most importantly on the Operation: Paramount page.

bullet

Other countries than the US will also be welcome to the campaign. So far we have Mr. Masayuki Niwa in Japan who has started promoting the campaign there.

bullet

Once the petition goal is reached, every petition will be taken to Paramount Pictures where a member of the campaign staff will present the petitions along with a detailed presentation regarding the type of viewer support Paramount can expect from a DS9 television mini-series.

bullet

We’ve contacted several new stars: Jeff Combs (Weyoun, Brunt), Mark Allen Shepherd (Morn), Chase Masterson (Leeta), and thanks to Doug, Avery Brooks (Captain Sisko, The Emissary). We’ve now made contact with 15 stars.

bullet

 J. G. Hertzler’s photos have also been updated with new ones I received from him. Check out all the stars on the "Stars Contacted" page.

bullet

Join our mailing list to get updates as they happen. See the Operation: Paramount page at the site to join.

bullet

You can also download the petition (if you can’t attend conventions) and send it to your respective State coordinator or the main campaign address:
